221 or Dicor

I have made repairs to my trailer and have a question for you.
I need to use a sealant on a moulding . It is a joint between the fibreglass wall and the lower wall(Skirt). PLus around the bottom of the door I have both Sikaflex 221 and DICOR levelling , what do u suggest?
  • Guess I should have said Sikaflex 721 for EPDM roofs. Will not crack.

  • I've always used Dicor or Alpha. I found the Dicor lasts longer than the Alpha. I use self leveling on everything and find it easy to make it look nice.

I read all the great reports here about Sikaflex so decided to try it. It costs the same here. I used the 221 on my camper about 5 years ago and didn't find it that great. It couldn't handle the sun I guess, started cracking. Had to scrap and replace the next year.

Could have been a bad batch, but that was my experience.
  • Sikaflex is a far superior product to Dicor. Spend the extra $$ and do it once. If Dicor was a quality product, then why must we constantly have to inspect the areas it's use in?

  • Thanks, One repair center says 221 is also like a flexible glue which interested me into it but can be hard to remove.
Seem Dicor is getting the nod though.
  • Dicor has always worked well for me. But, they're both good products.
    Not much help, huh?
  • I have never used 221 only Dicor and I have been very happy with both the self leveling and the caulking.

If you use Dicor make sure you remove any and all loose caulk and clean the area completely before applying the new.

  • Sorry, I am should have said I have the non-leveling Dicor
  • Dicor self leveling is used on horizontal surfaces. It can run off vertical surfaces.
