I don't know if this link will work. Needs an address to add a photo. Using public post on my FB page. Trying to open the metal casing around the fridge (Dometic DM2652) element

You'll have to copy and paste this address into a browser window to view it.

There is no tab anywhere to unhook. Anyone know?

Yours is a lap lock joint, to open press the right side of the raised vertical line, in and slightly in. While doing that holding the left side still.

Hmm...I've tried giving it everything I've got and it won't budge. I even took a hammer and chisel to the joint trying to get any movement and...nothing.

Well, at least I know that's how its supposed to come apart. Thanks for your response.

I have reached behind, all around, as far up as I can reach...it's smooth all the way. So bizarre.

The only time I have replaced an electric element on a RV frige is with the frige out to replace the cooling unit. Seems that not necessary if carful.
I found this link

Thanks for taking the time to look. But again, "just undo this clip"...there is no clip on mine. It is solid metal all the way around.

Never seen a solid insulation wrap, there needs to be a seam to get the insulation inside. Sometimes they are a snap lock seam, others have a tab that locks the two sides together.
If you could post a picture.

From your picture and the link from rhagfo, it looks like you can just squeeze and push in and the cover will unlatch.

It does look that way but you can't make either side budge. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Try googleing "how to replace electric heating element in Dometic 2652"

I have...a million times...I've watched dozens of videos "Open latch on boiler cover"..or I see photos of boiler covers that don't look like mine. Hoping to find someone who has seen this particular cover and knows how to open it. There is just no info out there on this one.

Has anyone had to remove the fridge to replace the fridge element? The drain tube is broken too so we could do that at the same time. I just hate unhooking the gas. ๐Ÿ˜ž
