I have a 2000 Duo Therm brisk air ac unit and I need to replace the motor and blower wheel. How do I get the blower out of the blower housing? Is there a way to remove the housing?
If you must change the inside blower squirrel cage, you must move the evaporator out of the way- just be careful to not kink the copper lines. Also make note of the screws as you remove them- I don't think there are any short screws on a Brisk Air, but sometimes there will be one, and it has to go back in the original hole (because it was short for a reason).
My unit you could not replace the motor and fan. Had to replace the whole AC unit so I replaced it with a 15,000 btu unit instead of the normal 13,500. Unit was 11 years old and it was really out of balance.
Thanks for the replies. After thinking about for a very short time I'm just going to replace the old unit (15 yrs old). It is a 13,500. Should I go up to a 15,000 or stay with the 13,500 when replacing it? Its only like 1.3 amps and 2 pounds difference and I live in Florida.
