Adjustable TV Mount

Question

I have a 2007 Everest 295TS, triple slide fifth wheel. There is a small slide that is dedicated to the entertainment center and desk. The entertainment center has an opening for one of the old tube type TV sets. I got rid of the old set when it came loose on a windy road, then when lifting it back into the hole I noticed how darned heavy it was so I dumped the old TV. I'm in the process of installing a flat panel TV that will be supported on an adjustable TV wall mount and am concerned about how to hang the mount within the entertainment center where the TV goes. The cabinets in this RV are mostly made up of faux wood so I'm a little concerned about using the cabinet to support any structure I need to build to support the wall hanger. ANY help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, T

What I did was to cut a 6X6 piece of plywood. Sanded and rounded edges and stained to make it look better. Predrilled screw holes in plywood and paneling for 6 screws to mount to wall. I applied glue to the back of the plywood as added support. Then mounted the TV mount to that. You could go larger than 6X6 so you can use more screws. Also I could feel a wall stud behind the paneling and that is where the 2 screws were installed for the mount.

The plywood spreads the load to more surface.

Ditto for the plywood backer recommendation.

When shopping for a tv mount or maybe an arm, select one that uses thumb screws or wing nuts to tighten the adjustments, versus fiddling around with a hex key behind the set.
