All LED panels not created equal

I have replaced my house lights with LEDs, many of them with 36-1210 panels from 2011_led as I am sure many of you have done. I have been very happy with them.

I thought I would buy some spares and since I didn't need the bases, I looked for a less expensive light. I ended up buying 36-1210 panels from Great Digital. They arrived quickly and appeared to be what I wanted so I sent a good feedback.

Later, I got around to trying one of the lights. The first thing I noticed was that they were not wired the same and wouldn't work with the old bases. They were wired with the female connector on the panel instead of the male connector. Ok, I re-wired them.

Next I plugged one of the rewired panels into an existing base. To my surprise it was much dimmer than the old panel.

Another difference was in the double sided tape. The panel came off the tape in a short time, leaving the tape stuck to the fixture.

So, be aware that LED lights from different sellers, even they are the same type and appear to be the same, may not be the same.

Always buy one or two before buying a larger number of lights.
  • I made my purchases from 2011LED also and was very pleased. I have a couple extra units for spares but have not yet needed them.

Ditto... I search his inventory for a specific need before I broaden my search to,other vendors.
  • I bought the cheapo ones and I placed them in fixtures that would light the living areas but these fixtures are rarely used. Yes the tape did not hold and the LED's are resting on the lens of the fixture. You do not notice this unless you are really looking at it so I don't care.

Also since they are in fixtures I only use while off the grid I do not care if it is as bright or the perfect color. My bulbs were about a buck each and I was able to LED my trailer and plenty to spare for my brothers trailer for about 25 bucks.

  • I too have bought from 2011 LED and was very pleased with the lights.

I tried a few others and they were the best of the field.

I also got a second order that was just as good, so I have extras, you never when they may be needed/wanted and not available. So far they have worked beyond my expectations.
  • I ordered what I thought would be enough of each type I use but now I wish I had ordered more of the smaller cobs. Oddly not all of those cobs are the same color, some are a bit bluer than others. All of the original panels are the same, the 10 pack of panels are considerably yellower but still usable.

I no longer suggest the original seller I used as they don't seem to have the same products.

Me too. I had one bad light in a recent purchase, and he refunded me for it right away. His details say you have to send it back for a refund, but that was not the case.
