I don't. It had better be stainless or it will corrode away from the acid fumes. Plastic is always better in that instance. Plastic vent, plastic flexible hose.

Still looks brand new after 11 years so whatever it's made of works.

316 stainless steel costs an arm and a kidney or three. If the batteries did not gas then a shiny brass job would work. More than likely the shiny job is chromed pot metal. And let chromed pot metal get a whiff of battery fart and kiss it goodbye. 18-8 and 304 stainless gets a white powder on it. Maybe appearances would enter the picture -- anything but a white finish would look better with chrome.

Yeah I'd get the sexier metal one again and after a couple of farts of battery acid which it has had with flooded batteries over the years and is still brand new, I'd drop another $12 for another one and 30 seconds of install. You guys amaze me how smart you 'are' lol
