awning fabric - install upside down possible?
As everyone knows, if you put a dark object and a white object out in the burning hot Florida sun, the dark object will be MUCH hotter than the white object. At some point in the genius of things, Carefree and other manufacturers' awnings are installed 'dark side up, white side down'. Sorry, but this seems dumb for 3 solid reasons:
1) dark side up means the bottom of the awning becomes an infrared radiator, so you swelter in the shade. Dumb.
2) white side down only means that it gets stained, and many stains never can be removed, so you're sitting under something ugly. And hot.
3) Once rolled out, the "decorative" side is only visible from an airplane, and when rolled up mostly invisible.
So ... is it possible to take the awning off, and install upside down? White side up to reflect the heat and get all ugly where you can't see it? And decorative side down giving you a sense of an attractive environment?
