BATTERY WATER?????

Unless the plates are exposed, I would avoid using normal water at all costs.

Borrow some distilled water from a neighbor. In the future adopt my method of only purchasing distilled water for use in the RV....drinking, batteries etc. Everything except the fresh water tank. Wish I was near you..l’ve got 3 1/2 gallons onboard.

They are for 2 golf carts, that I have. 6 volt batteries total of 13 batteries and 2 of them are just beginning to to show the tops of the plates in 2 different cells... not really completely showing yet but the way it looks here not sure when I will see distilled water again unless I get lucky. So just want to be ready with something just in case...THANKS

If there is a way you can catch, funnel and gather the steam when boiling water, that's distilled water.

Just don't use anything metallic for the funnel.

If you were close by I would offer you a gallon I have. Maybe someone close will offer....
Ask your store when the next delivery is. Or look up a battery distributor to call and check.

Well not very good distilled water, probably not any better than his RO water. In an actually still first stage water is often around 5 ppm solids. Actual distilled water undergoes repeated distillations 5 to 8 usually. And I don't know how you could practically capture it in the first place. Stainless steel would be OK to contact it and maybe aluminum too if you could do so. Regular lime glassware might even be worse.

On the other hand I'm not too sure just how pure the stuff they sell as 'distilled water' in stores really is.

I did this sort of thing professionally.

Thinking about it tho I can imagine capturing a fair amount of distillate using aluminum foil sheets and ice. It would be Rube Goldburg device tho...heh.

I could have recommended copper cover and funnel but seem too much investment and trouble for distilled water for battery.:p

Your 25 cent water is R/O. Probably 70% demineralized like household R/O product
Not at all bad in an emergency. I wouldn't make a habit of using it.

Consult with some old moonshiner.

Some autoparts stores or hardware stores etc may have distilled water. Got to think out of the box.
