My dual light ceiling fixtures showed bad discoloration all around the fixture in the ceiling. Also turned the plastic lens brown. Mine was using the automotive 921 bulbs. I found out how hot they were when I had to replaced a burned out bulb. I have no idea how close I was to actually catching the ceiling on fire but there has been a few reports of this over the years.
I replaced mine with the $4.99 LED panels from ebay/china that stick up inside the fixture....

If you are going to replace alot of the incandescent automotive bulbs the best approach is to buy ONE LED REPLACEMENT first and try it out.
I initially spent around $150 on replacing a whole bunch of the automotive bulbs but had RFI problems I couldn't live with being a HAM RADIO guy. They tore up my HAM RADIO reception when ON. You will want to get the WARM LIGHT version and each board or assy should produce at least 250 lumens to give off the same light as an automotive 921 bulb.
The problem was tracked down to the LED BOARDS ASSY had the BUCK BOOST REGULATOR chips incorporated that makes the LED ASSYs work from a large range of DC VOLTAGES (9V-30V) produced RFI interference to my HDTV and other radio units that operated in the VHF range. My interference to HDTV showed up big time when I was using the OTA CRANK UP roof mounted antenna. The TV signal coming in the CABLE CONNECTION was too strong to be affected. The $4.99 LED BOARDs I eventually ended up with operate from 12-14VDC so I purchased ten spares with the thought when the boards went bad because of DC VOLTAGE I could just change out the cheap board. They were installed in 2010 and still going just fine... The highest DC VOLTAGE my on-board converter/charger unit produces is 14.4VDC.
These direct replacement LED round assys for the 921 bulb have become popular but I have no info if they produce the RFI problems with your HDTV or WX RADIOs..
