Yes. Right up to the point that a component fails due to overheating and makes the voltage WAY off permanently or a fuse goes.

And in your first reply, you did NOT specify any time delay for the fan coming on. The way it was worded, the implication was that it would come on immediately.

Use it long enough that the converter gets HOT and the fan should run.
On most models, the fan does NOT run unless it needs to.

To the OP, you haven't done what other have suggested like testing the voltage on the converter. You're chasing your tail until you do that.

Really? So...... You are saying putting a LARGE load on that converter will NOT test as to if the fan system works? Really? If that fan circuit is working it will not take long for the fan to kick on.

Not saying it won't come on eventually but I don't think he had a fan problem anyway. He has dimming lights and has been told in more ways than one to check the voltage and therefore the converter.

Okay lets say you're right, when the converter/charger goes to 14.4 volts to charge the battery, could the lights get brighter than when on 12 volts alone? If the controller/charger sees the batteries as fully charged, would it reduce the charge rate and therefore the lights would dim?

Not as simple as you state.

To the OP, in my case it was a 25 year old PD converter. Very easy to replace. PD makes a universal replacement. Check at Bestconverter as suggested.
