Hello RVers I am new on this forum and have my first question? When I am dry camping I hookup my 100watt solar panel which is run threw my xantrex charge controller then direct to my batteries. My question is when I need to turn on my yamaha( ef 2000) generator do you need to disconnect my solar panel leads from the batteries before turning on generator.I am concerned that it could back feed and cause damage to something. All help would be appreciated!!Thanks

Hi,Since there is a charge controller for the solar panels, there is no need to disconnect.My solar plays well with shore power, and alternator power. If I am running the generator to operate the roof air, all three sources are active for charging the house battery bank.

no. The panels don't care, and the charger will shut off when full.

No need to disconnect. My solar runs connected 24/7/366 whether plugged in, on generator or unplugged.

Leave everything hooked up. It will all work fine together. Both chargers are aiming for a certain charge voltage which hopefully is fairly similar. One's charging won't change what the other is doing. You could have 4 or 5 sources of charge all connected at once. It will work fine.
