Dometic DM 2652 Question

I am helping a member of our RV group iron out problems with his newly acquired used FR Fifth Wheel. When left over night unplugged from 110v power, the batteries in the unit will will go dead. We have checked almost everything that could be causing the power drain and were given another thing to check out. A fellow camper told us and we have read in the op manual, that when the Climate Control Switch in the refrigerator is left in the ON position for any length of time, it will drain the batteries in short order. The manual shows where the switch is located in the DM 2652 and states " The Climate control switch is located beneath the top decoration panel that houses the control panel"....BUT there is nothing there but a smooth plastic surface??? Are missing something or has this switch been deleted in some models such as the DM-2652?
  • YES the DM2652 Model does have a 'Climate Control Switch'
Open freezer door and it should be approx. mid section upper trim.

    Provided it is a DM2652

Have you had the batteries load tested? They may not be holding a charge.

Did you check the converter DC output.....it may not be charging batteries fully? Check with batteries disconnected....AC power in, converter output should be 13.6V DC. If not converter (charger circuit) not functioning properly?

Do Batteries have a 'disconnect switch'...if OFF batteries will not charge.
  • I had the same issue on an 09 FR product. The rocker switch was on the partition between fridge and freezer doors, on the bottom side. Open the fridge door and look up.
And it sure drains the battery quick!
  • He does have a 2652 as taken from the label afixed to the refrigerator. We have looked in every location suggested and have been unable to locate this switch.. As for the batteries, they were charged and load tested at a local facility and they are good.. The onbaord charger / converter is working properly. We are still looking for the switch, but we have pulled all 12vdc fuses and going to check the current on the 12vdc line tonight as we replace each fuse 1 by 1 and see which circuit is causing the issue.
  • I believe they build some without the switch- the product number would tell. But- with the refrigerator switched off, it will not draw current, and even with it on, it will not drain a battery overnight.
  • Chris... You were absolutely correct about the absence of a switch.. I received the following from Dometic just a few minutes ago.. "The climate control in the newer 2652's is controlled by the lower board and no longer requires a switch. There has been a new design to this model. Sorry for the confusion"...

Hopefully tonight we will solve the battery drain mystery...
