Eternabond over ladder anchor points on roof - yea or nay?

Just finished doing all the roof seams on our ‘new to us’ 5’er. Didn’t have a ladder on my previous rig, what’s the common opinion on using eternabond to cover the ladder anchor points on the roof?
  • As part of dealer prep for the sale, they recaulked all the roof joints. For the seams I cleaned with acetone and laid the eternabond over the top, like I did on the old rig. For the ladder, it makes kind of a cone around the anchor points. Better to leave the Dicor in place and lay tape on top or remove completely? On one hand, I kind of like the double security of tape over Dicor, but on the other hand it will make applying the tape challenging and the end result might not be as pretty. I know it’s hidden up on the roof, but I’ll know it’s there ;)
  • Good idea, I need to replace the screws anyways, I’ll do that!
  • If you put Eternabond tape UNDER the ladder mounts, it will seal the screws as you drive them through the tape. I discovered this phenomena when mounting my solar panel. Eternabond used to have a video of the tape covering the screw heads.

  • I did - seemed a appropriate decision given the proximity when I was sealing the perimeter of the rig.
