Fantastic just quiet!

Well, I solved my problem as follows:
cleaned battery terminals
Pulled converter 115v and reapplied
replaced adjacent 12vdc light fixture

Now everything works; its magic

A brushless motor with dual ball bearings would last 5x as long.

You need to use a volt meter and follow the power.
If the motor is bad, you can get a replacement but it wont be as quiet as the original.

How did you verify the cover switch? Did you make sure the plunger moves freely up and down and also test the continuity with the plunger in both and up and down position? Typically the plunger gets stuck in the down (off) position so when the cover is raised the switch is still open circuit so the fan doesn't run.

Mine has a thermostat. If your has one, is it set right?

I would start at the switch and check for power.

Check for power AT the fan motor with the switch on. If you have power at the motor and no go, the motor died

If it's not working it will definitely be quiet. I agree with rrupert, make sure you have power going to the fan before you do anything.

Check to see if there is any power in the circuit.

I wish mine was quiet.
