Fridge temp change

I was ecstatic over our Dometic fridge's temperature. 0F in the freezer and 33F in the fridge. This week, it's more like 13F and 38F. I do know SWMBO, over stuffed the freezer and was able to get it latched, I suspect the seal wasn't compressed. Trailer is level. Outdoor temp is 70-75F. Humidity is very high tho.

Thoughts?
  • ambient is down to 60F outside, my little computer fan is uncovered now. Life is good 31/-1.
  • DW is extremely intelligent... DON'T COVER THE FAN (small computer fan)...

I moved some stuff around, got the temp down to 35 and was happy... suddenly up to 40. Opened the fridge, and she put a container right over top of the fan.

  • 1. Overstuffing the freezer will not cause cooling problems in the freezer or lower section.
    2. Overstuffing the bottom section can cause lower cooling in the bottom
You MUST have a path for the convection air to flow up from the back bottom of the refer and flow thru the Evap fins to remove the heat. Plastic bags and such are a big NO NO. If there is no clear easy path for that air to flow, you will not get adequate cooling. Doug
  • The Norcold fridge in our TT has issues with it temp going all over the place. When it's warm out, it's warmer inside and not because it doesn't have the cooling power. It's only because the thermostat shuts it off at different temps.
So if it's 80 outside , it cools to 40ish and shuts off. When the temp drops to the 60's, the thrermostat decides 32 is good. I know the stat has no idea what the outside temp is so this is baffling to me. Our old American had no such characteristic.
Then we finaly took a trip where the fridge was full but not stuffed. It did great! Temps were very constant.
  • Ideal for Fridge is 37 F.

Our fridges are negatively affected by Ambient temperatures.
  • Overstuff your home fridge and you will find temps rise - same goes with RV.
  • Empty fridge hard to cool...no mass to retain the cold

OVERSTUFFED fridge hard to cool....no air movement

Seals not fully compressed......warm air gets sucked in
