Don't find ANYTHING about a model 42997 ??? BUT you photo looks like my Hunter which is a 42999.

RED (12V DC +) connects to RH with a jumper to RC
BLUE (12V DC -) is NOT used
WHITE (Furnace) connects to 'W'
YELLOW (A/C Compressor) connects to 'Y'

GREEN (High Fan) I connected to 'G'
GRAY (Low Fan) I did not use because I always used High Fan anyway

Any other wires....not used

Model 42997. It says connect either of the wires to the rh terminal, then connect the other wire to the W terminal to complete the circuit.

What is the hunter model?
Did it say anything about a jumper between the RH and RC terminals?

What thermostat did you replace it with?
It may go to the same terminal that sends "heat" to the furnace. Need to know what replacement is first.

It actually turns on the AC unit. It should connect to the AC output on new thermostat.

It goes to a relay in the ceiling unit.

What thermostat did you replace it with?
It may go to the same terminal that sends "heat" to the furnace. Need to know what replacement is first.

It actually turns on the AC unit. It should connect to the AC output on new thermostat.

So, my new thermostat helped with the heater... But now my AC doesn't work hahah. I rewired the old thermostat and the AC worked... So, at night, I'd wire the new thermostat...During the day I'd wire the old thermostat. The old thermostat has a blue wire that the new one doesn't.
