Generator Honda 3000is

Okay I saw the sticky on the Honda 2000 is there one for the Honda 3000is. My generator had sat up in storage for a while and a buddy of mine offered to clean my carburetor for me. Well it's not running right at all. When he ask I tell him it's running like a top. I don't have the heart to tell him its not running right. I'm thinking of taking it somewhere to get it fixed. Can any motorcycle shop work on these? Thanks.
BTW Some want 90 bucks an hour, lookin for a break.

Sounds to me like removing the carb so it can be put into an ultrasonic cleaner is your next step.

Thanks for all the replies, I ran SeaFoam in it and ran it a couple hours, still hunting bad when idling. At least it starts I guess. I'll find me a Honda shop, maybe Franklin, thanks for that tip.

Also, you might try checking the choke assembly. Those are a little tricky to get reassembled properly. If you can find a diagram and look with a flashlight you may see a problem.

Step one.. IF it's been sitting for a while

Change oil, Change fuel filter, Change air cleaner filter
Spark plug should be inspected, if not replaced.

Add SEAFOAM to gas (Recommended dosage) Plug in 1500 watt space heater and let 'er run dry. (Optional drain fuel tank and skip to next step)

Re-fill with fresh gasoline, and seafoam,, Run dry again

IF it's running better.. Great. IF not, Small engine repair.

You may want to change the oil again.. (Depending on how dirty it is) .

If it will run at all it's probably not too far gone. Try running some Seafoam through it. You can buy it at any local auto parts store.

And FWIW the carburetor on the 3000is is almost identical to the one on the 2000. At least as far as disassembly / assembly.

I took mine to a renal shop, it was $85 per hour but they fixed it in one hour.
