- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerAnd then there is the subject of "db"
On one hand we have 53 db from the Berlin Philharmonic, or Luciano Pavarotti
and 53 db from Fifty Cent or Metallica
Or 49 db from a nine year old girl running her fingernails across a blackboard.
Decibel ratings are 101% NOYSE and little else - tonymullExplorerWe go to some pretty remote locations in BC and Alaska and space is a real premium, as is weight. We normally take a trailer but for some spots, and we stay for a month or so when we get there, we have to drop the trailer and get everything in the truck and camper. Even that little bit of space is valuable to us then. I'm still thinking. You're right it's only $200 difference. On the other hand we have nothing to run but the frige fan and LED lights. Even the detectors are not connected to house batteries.

I'm also wondering if, since I only need to charge batteries, if I just need a Honda 1000. Good point about the yamaha's failing, but it would take me many years to get to the 1600 hour mark. We camp a good 180 days a year, but like I said most of our power needs come from solar.
the Honda 2000 is not much more than the 1000 and will work with your converter better and you can run everything except the a/c. - tonymullExplorer30 amp Magnetek

Depends on the max amp output of your converter.

Volts * amps = watts. - tonymullExplorerI'm also wondering if, since I only need to charge batteries, if I just need a Honda 1000. - Ajones42ExplorerI had two Yamaha 2000 inverter generators. Both failed at around the 1600 hour mark with excessive oil leaks. Both went through the Yamaha warranty repair process. Neither one was repaired to the level where it could be used as a reliable unit.
I thought paying a premium price for a "quality" product was money well spent. obviously, not the case with Yamaha. I have multiple generators now and all of them are Honda. FWIW - DownTheAvenueExplorer

Champion and Generac have a lawn mower type of engine, and they are not quiet.
Not true. - tonymullExplorerYeah I looked first. The rental company idea sounded good, but they use a wide variety of brands... Something to add to my question is that I rely mostly on solar, I don't have A/C, so I don't need to use whatever I buy very much, just to recharge the batteries when it rains for a few days, or top off the trolling motor battery in a pinch. I had a 2000 Yamaha with I loved but that is no more. I wonder if I even need another 2000 and if I really need the Yamaha or Honda for that level of use.
