In over 20 years of using Rayovac batteries, the only one's that have ever leaked on me were the one's I left in a device over the winter. And every battery brand leaks after a long period. I hope you wrote a nasty-gram to Rayovac about it. I would have.

I haven't had HF's leak, but they sure don't last long. I've had Duracell leak; I take them out of anything I plan to leave unused for any length of time.

I do find NMH rechargables to be the most economical to use.

I've had Duracell leak before taking them out of their original package. And other dead Duracell have leaked too. Yes, you are lucky, that's all.

I am using them now, dry camping outside yellow stone with a generator not working and have 4 of these lights and batteries which were all free. Even if they last 1/4 of the time of Duracell from a cost stand point they are better I have been using these batteries for two weeks without replacing them yet.

Amazes me how long the AAA's hold up in HF's little LED flashlights. It's a moral/renew-ability debate: Buy good batteries when the original ones fail, or just go with another whole light.
Some of you techies may be able to answer why, but usually one of the three AAA's used in these, goes flat dead and the other two are like-new good.
But... Would I count on them for really important use or in really valuable equipment? Probably not.

I am going to focus on Eneloop rechargeables. Down here AAA & AA are more than a dollar a pop. Saving a dollar on batteries and ruining a fidty-dollar instrument ain't my gig.

I use batteries from HF and Dollar Tree. They're used in small LED flashlights. No, they don't last as long but they do the job for me.
I've never had one leak. Even when they are left in the light for over a year.
I guess I've just been lucky.

X2 what 'Burbman said! I have one of their cheap cordless drills I paid $16 for at one of their sidewalk sales. I bought it strictly for quick open/close of my stabilizers. but quite honestly it's actually not too bad of a drill.

I've said it before I'll put their Pittsburgh hand tools up against Craftsman any day. Granted so HF stuff is unadulterated junk, but still love the store! Sometimes you only need a tool to last through one job!
