Has anyone insulated to cut down on furnace noise?

NO! All heat producing appliances have minimum clearance requirements. Look up the specs for your specific furnace.

Thanks. To all who responded. Got it sorted. The SF-35 needs 55 sq. inches for intake. It actually states that it doesn't need any clearance on 5 of its 6 sides (with the exception of the air intake vents I'm sure) but I'll be leaving a few inches just to be on the safe side, and a lot of space open to the basement in the back. I'll also be recording the sound from the both inside and outside the rig before and after and will post links in case anyone is interested.

I will be posting instructions for removing this furnace, for whoever might need it in the future, in a couple of days. It was an adventure.

Running great now and the squeal is gone.

I'm guessing a smaller trailer like yours has a smaller furnace. In a 36' rig with the furnace right near/under the bed, it's like someone turning a hairdryer on low on the other side of the bedroom (but a lower frequency) and in the middle of the night that wakes you up. The previous owner said they never used the furnace at night for the same reason.

I have enough of my plate and don't need, in addition to that, to be fielding self-indulgent, unkind and unhelpful responses from you. There are real people on the other end of your posts, dealing with things you can't possibly imagine. The are other, more constructive, ways to get attention.

I love the sound of the rain and the water pump doesn't bother me at all. I'm even comfortable sleeping at truck stops. The blower is just too close to the bed, too in-your-face. Wakes me up every time.

I don't really understand why anyone would be concerned with what concerns others (which they really don't understand) but since you asked....Every RV is designed differently. My furnace is right next to/under my bed and when it comes on at night it will wake me up. The blower is very loud. I can barely hear it in the kitchen/living room.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease ;)

I'd bet they are the same people that will wake up instantly if some jerk turns the tv off ! I just hate when that happens !!

Furnace and sound insulation. What you have right is stupidity. Someone could ne stupid enough to put flammable material too close to a heater.
