Anyone out there in forum land have any experience with the various adaptors or extended fuel kits as shown on e-bay that you add your 3 or 5 gallon fuel tank to the Honda 2000 generator.Couple of questions: Does the kit come with a suction hose that goes down into your gas can. Pictures just show the hose from the can to the generator. And does the generator pull from the auxiliary can and keeps the on board generator tank full, meaning you just need to fill the auxiliary tank as it runs, unless you run the whole system empty. I tried to do the control C, control V to show a couple of the kits, but must need to do something else to get it to bring it over to RV net. Thanks...

I had one couple years back for the two generators setup, and yes the generators pull from the extra tank, I don't specifically remember if the added tank had a hose to pull from the bottom. The kit I purchased had the two caps, hoses, and the extra aux tank.Once hooked up, if running for a long time, you will just need to top off the extra tank. The system itself keeps the generators full (unless you run it completely dry).MArkiemark

I have an extended tank with my two Hondas. There is no hose down into the extended tank; it is not needed. The Hondas pull from the extended tank then from their own tank. The extended tank will come with special caps that connect everything. I've never had any problem and running an AC, the extended tank with the two Hondas will run about 10 hours easy.

The aux tank already has a draw tube.

You can add a vacuum operated fuel pump, but that is much more of a pain.

I have the Bergs dual genny system and LOVED it..... But now I have the onboard Onan 6.5 and do not need my extended run kit anymore...

Here's my first version -

I bought an extra Honda gas cap and drilled out the on/off switch.

This worked well for a few years then my carb got clogged and it got picky. I removed the primer bulb, replaced all of the tubing, and bought one of the metal fabricated gas caps and I seal everything up with Seal All a few times a year.

I also run Sea Foam in the gas and run Ethanol free gas. Works like a champ.

This is an older marine tank and I am suspecting I will need to replace it at some point.

just my .02...

Honda's have a vaccuum operated fuel pump which is why they can draw fuel from an external fuel tank as long as there are no air leaks between the external tank and the cap on the honda.

Yamaha and the Champions don't have the fuel pump built in. I've seen a few mods where people have purchased the fuel pump and put it into their Yamahas and Champions and external tanks work the same as the Honda.

There are a host of threads that outline how to create your own external tank. Most, do, require the external bulb to prime all the air out of the line.

I was just trying to find out if anyone had bought a kit like they sell on e-bay that has the 2 caps, one for the Honda and one for your gas can. They show the 2 caps and hose between the 2. I wondered if it has a draw or suction hose that goes into your gas can for pick up.
I have several cans and do not want to buy the whole kit & kabuttle like the Berg System with the gas can included.

There is an old style and a new style tank. Both draw from the bottom of the tank. The old one like I have is similar to one of the bottles of fuel stabilizer where you squeeze it and the stuff comes up a tube on the side and fills a small reservoir. Same principle of pumping from the bottom. A standard jerry can will not work as it is designed for pouring.
