How can i test the power output of my Honda 2000i?

I suspect my Honda 2000i isnt putting out optimium power. For example, it labors hard to run an 1875 watt hair dryer, even when it's the only thing connected. Same with a 1400 watt air popcorn maker. Is there a direct way to test the power output with a meter, etc?

I think you are lucky to be able to run the hair drier at all.

The front panel of EU2000i 2KW Honda Generator says this...

Google Image

120V @ 13.3AMPS is 1595 Watts...

You also may have to consider that only 797.5 WATTS may only be available to use in each of the two 120VAC Receptacles... Some Generators do this with split windings inside the generator... Don't know this to be a fact with the Honda 2KW EU2000i generator...

Added NOTE: Just checked with FAQ's on AMAZON about how much power can be drawn from each 120VAC Receptacle...

"Question:
This gen is rated at 13.3a/16.7a max. is that 6.7a per outlet or can all 13.3 amps come through one outlet?
Answer:
It can come through a single outlet.

It should labor hard at those loads. Do your amps calculation then read the faceplace on the generator.

Mine was only rated for 1600 watts.

Check this out and do some calcs on it BUT you are right at the beam of out put at 1875 for max. and 1400 on a cooker may strain it a bit .
