These were added as part of the recall, and are now standard equipment. They simply interrupt the 12 volt power to the fridge. The one on the cooling unit is just a simple disc type limit switch, the other is a thermal fuse enclosed in tubing. Refrigerator fires due to leaking had 2 main causes- either they were running on LP and the refrigerant ignited, or they were running on electric and simply got hot enough to ignite surrounding materials.
