Problems with Dometic Brisk Air II :(

Ugh...im at the last straw with the Dometic Brisk Air II and heres why:

We have a 2015 Palomini 179 BHS. Only 11 months old. And we are on our THIRD...yes 3RD Brisk Air II!!! *13,500 BTU

The first unit lasted 2 weeks after initially buying the camper. The ac air was only ab 12 degrees less than the return air. No problem. They switched unit out and we were on our 2nd unit.

With the 2nd unit: The ac air was ab 22 degrees less than the return air. However, the compressor would only turn on for 45 seconds every 12 mins!! And the forward air vent had ZERO outflow. Brought unit to another dometic dealer and he warrantied it out.

Now we are on a 3rd unit. With a 20 degree difference than return air, however, the compressor comes on for 45 seconds every 5 mins. With the remaining 4 mins being fan air. And it takes ab 40 seconds of compressor aor to reach 20 degree dofference. So we litterally have only maybe 20 seconds of comfortable ac ever 4 mins. Which still isnt enough to cool in this spring midday heat below 75 degrees when outside air is around 75. Is this normal function for the brisk air II?

*this my 3rd camper: had pop up with an ac that would blow u out cold....a 26 footer stick and tin with a very cold ac as well and lived in it comfortsble in south louisiana for 3 months during summer...so i think i have a feeling of how well these ac units should perform.

*we have put insulated vent covers, insulated the windows with the insulation foil stuff, we have checked every inch for possibe leaks, etc...cant figure it out. At this point im ready to sell the ac unit, take a few hubdred dollar loss and change brands.

Any suggestions would he helpful

  • That all points to a bad installation, not a bad unit.
You need to find a dealer who knows what they are doing and hope Dometic will pay for fixing the OEM screwup.
  • There is a recall on Dometic A/C's built in the era you are talking about. Contact Dometic with your serial and model numbers. They replaced our 15000 btu last spring, sent a mobile tech to our house to do the work. They even gave us a five warranty on our 13500 btu unit that is in the recall, it is still works great though.
  • Ahh...we finally fixed it. Apparantley there is a thermostat adjustmwnt screw inside the thermostat control box. We tightend it up and perfecto. A buddy told me it controls the ambient temperature cut off. A couple of counter clockwise twist increases the cutoff threshold. I guess when they replace the unit they didnt replace the control module. Now its 80 outside and 60 in the camper :) And my ac is dripping like a smokey mountain waterfall. Best waterfront view i had in a long time
  • Glad you got it sorted a boo on the RV tech who apparently didn't even check that the unit he installed worked correctly.
  • I know this is an old thread, but I'm trying to fix this same issue in a newly installed Brisk Air 2. The compressor only turns on for a few seconds every few minutes. Not cooling at all. Where exactly was the screw you adjusted?

First thing to check, pull off the return air vent, look for the thermocouple. Bend it into the return air flow.
