The reason that gas cans don't vent OUT is that people are stupid.....and they will expose them to HEAT right next to an ignition source and fill the can full.
AND then wonder why they had an explosion and flash fire when the tiny vent hole starts spewing gas about 10 feet when it gets really HOT.
IF.....you have drilled a hole in your gas cap.....and you don't understand what might happen......I hope your insurance is paid up and nobody you love will be anywhere near it.
