JayFlight Slide Won't Retract

I have a 2005 JayFlight 31BHS and was getting ready to pull out of driveway to go for a weekend trip. Went to close the slide and I initially heard the ratcheting clutch noise I hear when I fully extend the slide and then I just heard the motor spinning. Initially the slide started to move but now it is not moving at all. I tried to manually retract the slide by using a wrench but and the threaded rod turns but doesn't grab.

I'm guessing something broke internally that I can't see but I'd welcome any suggestions.

Thanks.

Bob,

Having had to deal with something similar on my landing jacks on my 5er, look to see if there are some screws on the end where the wrench connects to.

As old biscuit mention, there is probably a shear pin that failed, and you'll need to replace it.

One thing you could check is for lubrication. While these are supposed to be sealed units, I've found my units to be under lubricated from teh factory and required a major disassembly and cleaning before I put marine bearing grease back into the units (which work very well now). If you find your grease has dried out, you're going to need to go through it from end to end in order to insure that you repeat this process again.

I'd start with just looking to see what's there.

FYI, if you remove the entire unit, make sure you measure where everything is before you reassemble the unit and reinstall it. Otherwise, it'll make things a bit more difficult to realign.

Here's a picture of the motor/gearbox for reference.

I don't have underbelly cover on my camper so I can see the entire slide mechanism but I'm just not sure where the shear pin is. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Shear pin on drive gear to driven rod.

Have to open up underbelly enclosure to access (cut 3 sided window with non cut side forward =------tape closed with gorilla tape, duct tape or
EternaBond tape (best)

Check that drive is synced so it pulls in equally after new shear pin (1/4 X 20 grade 5 bolt or roll pin )
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Will it push in by hand if you get some help?
Do you know a mechanic that can fix it?
