Key for bedroom engine access hatch

I'm trying to find a barrel key to fit the engine access hatch in the bedroom floor. I have a 2006 SportCoach Encore 40TS. I have been taking it to Freightliner for years for service and this was the first time they asked for the key to open the hatch. I don't have one, I thought you used a 3/8 inch socket to open. Didn't know it was a key. Anyone have a guess where to get one?
Thank in advance for any help.
Happy Camping, bye Dennis
  • I'm posting the part number for the barrel key for the engine access hatch that's in the bedroom of a DP. Southco E3-5-15 Amazon had it for $9.50
    I hope this helps.

  • On mine, the access door in the front for the generator and the access panels in the bedroom use the same key.
  • Hi everyone,
Good news, went to the local RV dealer Coulee RV in West Salem Wi. and they had one. I was told for the engine access hatch they are all the same. They cost only $12.50. I don't have the part number at this time. When I get my coach back I'll post the part number.
Thank again for the input, Happy Camping, bye Dennis:)
  • Guess I got lucky. I went to my local locksmith to buy a spare and they had one hanging on a hook in the shop.
  • They exist. Remember the old Motel 6 bed vibrators? Used a coin box with a barrel key. GOOGLE not eBay or Amazon search. These keys may or may not be known by another moniker like CYLINDER KEY
  • I also needed a "barrel key" made...as a spare. Went to 3 locksmiths. No one seems to make them. I might imagine that like a conventional key...there are only so many combinations. But where you would find them is anyone's guess.

It might have to be drilled out and replaced with something else. Freightliner shop can probably do that.......

    g'luck!
