Kwikee Steps issue

Question

I just returned home from a trip of 12 days. The last day we drove in the rain.

My kwikee steps have always worked correctly till now. They sometimes go up all the way but sometimes have to help them a bit. When they extend they come down all the way but the motor keeps running for a bout 4-5 seconds after they are fully extended. This is a new issue for me. Would it be the motor itself going bad? Or possibly the controller box?

Motor is bad. Plastic gears inside are getting stripped/worn out. Easy repair and you'll be good for years.... Get the numbers off the motor (there are a few different ones) and look on eBay or Amazon.

A lot of the older ones were Ford power window motors Could try to match it at your local parts store.
