kwikee steps sagging 1997 Winnie Vectra
Can see where they are pulling the mounting bolt out. What I cant see is how they got in there to mount them. I have not pulled up the carpet but perhaps there is a closed off acess panel there?

- I just finished reinforcing ours.
Pull up the carpet, then the wood under that and you'll get to the bolt heads. I had to cut off the bolt heads (they used the rounded kind with the square shank, but they but it in a round washer) they would just spin. I did the closest ones first than the back ones so I didn't have to remove the steps
Anyway once I removed the bolts I replaced them with regular bolts and used a 1/4 X 2 inch steel bar the full width of the step for support. I had to relieve the wood where the bolt heads are for clearance. I put the closest support bar on top of the wood (inside the MH) and the back support bar under the wood above the step mount (under the MH). I also pored some thin, slow set epoxy along the edges of the wood to firm it up and keep it from creaking. They are nice and level now, with no creaks.
Good luck! - Carriage bolts are used. My step adapter to the rig was made out of thin steel. It started to tear along one of the bends. I removed them, took to sheet metal shop and had heavier gauge stainless steel bent to match.
- One can also have the stairs welded to the chassis frame from below where the steps are up against it.
- The steps have been the most problematic system on my motor home since I got it. I've played with them several times a year to keep them operating. Last summer they died and nothing was going to bring them back, I put on a new set. No way would I weld them, it's way too permanent and they would be too hard to remove where they're at.
