Hi,
Yes, my first inverter was 2500 MSW watts and the replacement for it is 3000 PSW watts.
Of those 'terrible' Wally world batteries four are 10 years old and four are 6 years old. They will still power the air conditioner--just not for very long. If I were willing to give up inverter use they would easily power the furnace and all other 12 volt loads. The solar system would put back in enough each day that I'd never have to connect to shore power.
I recently used the inverter to make lunch--which consisted of a 50 amp draw for seven minutes for the coffee, a 75 amp draw for six minutes for toast, and a 95 amp draw for 12 minutes for the induction cooker.
One nice thing about a "sunset" battery bank, is that I no longer need worry about getting to 100% state of charge. They are toast, just--very dark brown--not burnt.
I am going AGM this time around and it will either be 7 group 27 twelve volt with group 31 plates (very strange), or 4 L-16 AGM Surrette six volt jars. Either will serve me well. It just depends on what will fit. I'd still rather have 2 volt cells, if I could source some that would fit.

Group 29 screams wally world battery. While 3 12v jars will be able to power a high load through an inverter longer than 2 6v batteries, the 6v GC batteries are at least a true deep cycle battery, and designed to be cycled, not a compromise.
