Macerator question...

A friend just bought a Road-Trek, just took her first trip, is not mechanical at all and I'm not there so I thought I'd ask here. She said that in order to get the macerator to work she has to hold a button down and she says it's taking forever. Does anyone know what she might be talking about? The instructions say to press the power button but it seems unlikely that she should have to hold it down. ?
  • Yes you have to hold the button down so you don't run pump dry very long and it should empty the tanks in a few minutes.
I have a 210 Roadtrek. Hope this helps
  • On my Flojet macerator pump if you push the button all the way down and release it the switch will lock and the pump runs continuously. Pushing it down again unlocks it.

X2 one push turns it on and the second push turns it off, and you don't dump in a few minutes either, just clean my tanks today and it took 20 min. with a 3/4 hose to my sewer dump and the tanks were half full.
  • I don't believe the Roadtrek macerator has a "lock down" option. I've always had to hold the button. A minor annoyance, but it usually just takes a few minutes.

If it does not have a lock down option you can replace the switch, it is an SPST I'd look for at least a 25 amp switch, if not bigger.

One word, on my Flo-Jet portable if I don't use it for a while the impeller will size up.. Easy to fix, on the "Bottom" of the motor is a slotted shaft (may have a rubber cap over it) if you look at the outlet it "Suggests" a direction to turn the shaft.. That's the direction to turn it, One full turn BEFORE you hook up and it's good to pump.
