I tortured my Trace 4024 and started a 7-1/2 horsepower compressor with it. The unit laughed it off.
If I were to guess it would be Magnum but Victron has a great rep though especially with the marine crowd.

Can be paralleled to create about any size needed.
Totally forgot about the Phoenix line AND they have a 12V 3000VA (2500W @ 25C) inverter too.

Actually we (ex trace guys) are still here, we now go by Magnum.

Hi mlts22,

I already avoid using an autoformer the "poor mans way" by having a dedicated shore power cord for the converter, while running the rest of the RV off the inverter. That's why I'm after the siren song of 3600 watts of psw inverter.

It is interesting to hear you call a 3000 watt genny marginal. I did go with the iSEB version of the Yamaha. It does start my 13500 with the eco switch on. I did use the genny for 25 hours at a cost of $59.00 on my most recent trip. If I had the psw inverter I could cut that cost fairly dramatically.

That would completely get rid of the need for an autoformer, and a low-voltage EMS. If I had the cash, that definitely would earn a place in my rig, even if it functioned as a quick and dirty UPS, or if I'm using a marginal generator like a 3000 watt generator, it would absorb the locked rotor amperage without overloading the generator.

I wish Victron had a straight inverter rather than inverter chargers.

True, Samlex/Go Power makes 12V 3000W continuous units. And they're big, heavy inverters too.

Just get the Victron and turn off the charging portion.

Don't know if the shoe fits if I should wear it? My wife drives a Volvo S80 twin turbo, does that mean I should have a Magnum?

BTW: I drive an old Malibu. Still got a little old moldy left. Laid down the tools of the trade @ 50 and I'm now 79. Only worry, health.

Hi Roy,

No, I was unwillingly put in a position where my house was sold. (not a financial issue--but it would have cost me too much to buy out my wife's share). I decided I would earmark ten grand for upgrades. I needed new tires--so I went with larger wheels. I looked very seriously at a solar trailer, but fell to the siren song of a Yamaha 3000 iSEB genny.

I have a 2500 Cobra MSW and wish to replace it with a PSW. In an ideal world I'd go with 3600 watts (or 4000) but no one makes a 12 volt in that size (a reliable one, that is).

I would really prefer a stand alone inverter.

I have 5 grand left of the ten. Want to help me spend it?

Hi Jeff,

That's an unfair comparison--but my ideal inverter would be PSW, stand alone, 12 volt and 3600 watts continuous.

I could start with one Victron and add a second one if need be. Magnum doesn't offer that feature. Don't get me wrong, I believe the Magnum is a great unit.

The Victron Quattro can be connected to dual 120 volt power sources. "More Power

Two AC inputs with integrated transfer switch. The Quattro can be connected to two independent AC sources, for example shore-side power and a generator, or two generators. The Quattro will automatically connect to the active source. "
All very good points.
