Magnum inverter, Yamaha Generator

For anyone that is curious...

A recent thread came up about about abnormal charging from a Magnum inverter, using a Yamaha generator as the AC input. My Magnum is a Magnasine MS2812, software version 5.4, ARC version 3.010, BMK version 1.0

When I started my Yamaha ef2000is this morning, output voltage 122.3 volts.

AGM (automotive grade) battery bank was at 12.3v, 70 pct SOC. The Magnum is charging in bulk mode 14.4 volts and 88 amps (ac input limit set to 13 amps).

A few hours later, output voltage 122.3 volts. Magnum charging in absorb mode, 14.3 volts, 60 amps (ac input limit still 13 amps). SOC 93 pct

It should switch to float shortly, I think around 95 pct?

SOC is being measured by coulomb counting performed by a Magnum battery management controller (BMK)

edit: oh, I should add, minimal ac load is present on the inverter. Just a television, a few chargers, various parasite loads.

Gee, aren't we snippy.. You just proved my point. Hopefully you'll quit griping about semantics and let this thread roll back to PT's original post subject.

Sorry, OP, but this thread has gone to poop anyway, so never mind! ๐Ÿ™‚

No fair! Mex must have taken TWO English courses instead of just the one compulsory course Engineers (the only ones who noticed that Godiva rode a horse) had to take at university. You knew who they were among the actual "English Majors" by the slide rule powder they had all over them ๐Ÿ™‚

1 May, when all the drunks interlace arms and sing "la internacionale"

As far as "proper" English is concerned, I ran into a roadblock in college...

hey happycamper002,

Do you believe that a grid tie inverter can take DC current from solar panels, invert it to an alternating current output synchronized to the grid and send this power to the grid?

If yes, then why do you not believe that the Magnum MSH3012M, can do essentially the same thing?

Cheers,

Hopefully this was not construed as "grammar police", It was merely to indicate that PT meant proprietary as almost everyone understood and that there really was no extraordinary interpretation required.

This is more like malapropism (look it up). The semantics is correct and no outlandish violation of grammar syntax. . . therefore no grammar police is necessary.

Fanatical adherence to prescriptive grammar, by librarians, is not the issue, let alone typographical error.

well, except for the fact that PT already indicated that it was a typo and corrected it.

I for one am more concerned about the rise of the Fanatical Librarians.

Umm. . . "typo".

Not only can people not spell, Auto-correct to another word from smart phones is rampid. The ones that drive me nuts are those who have never figured out the use of a period (.) and proceed to write a novella about their problem.

happycamper002, I don't pretend to know how Magnum and Victron accomplish this "magic", but I can indeed tell you it does work. I'm pretty certain it is propitiatorypatented information, so asking them to explain the details won't get an answer.

I'm having a serious problem trying to collocate this term (PROPITIATORY) to this discussion.

There is absolutely nothing to propitiate one's point of view vs another's.
To appease someone (which is what this word means) because you feel that the other debater's point differs from yours is simply absurd, silly and borders on idiocy.

I don't need to be appeased. To capitulate is saying โ€œOK, you win, I give upโ€ . . . which honestly is the contrary.

Mincing words has a big impact on what you say and how it is perceived.

Call me a pedant, but if I read the word PROPRIETORY that would make a whole lot of sense.

It's no wonder load-support and load-sharing are totally mixed up. It is this understanding or lack of it is what's keeping this exchange to no end.
