This is a handy chart showing what the resting DC VOLTS should read for the different states of charge. If your battery was reading 13.6VDC then that must be coming from your alternator with the truck motor running. A fully charged 12V battery should read 12.6VDC-12.7VDC.

When camping off the power grid I always watch my DC VOLTS and when the battery bank gets down to around 12.0VDC (APPRX 50% SOC) I start thinking about getting the battery bank re-charged back up to at least its 90% SOC. With smart mode chargers running 14.4VDC you can re-charge your batteries back up to the 90% charge state usually in a three hour charge cycle.
