Norcold 6162

Our fridge in our 95 travel trailer has stopped working. There's power to the board cause the front panel lights up. The gas does ignite and burn but running on either of them doesn't make the fridge cold. Anybody have any similar problems or know or possibly what could be wrong? I realize it'll be 20 years old and I'm fearing the worst.
  • Yes, I've seen that there. It looks a little rusty though. I'll give it a try.
  • Thermostat.......what you adjust on upper panel

Thermistor.......temp sensor in food section attached to fin. What thermostat uses as temp reference to turn fridge heating source (electric/propane) ON/OFF to cool fridge.

Remove thermistor from fin and allow it to hang down in food section compartment. (it plugs into back of eyebrow----upper control panel)
Turn thermostat up to coolest setting
Turn fridge ON either electric or propane and allow to run over night.
Check freezer and food compartment temps
  • I felt the big tank and the coils and they were not hot at all. Is the thermostat under the access panel?
  • I would try the cheapest things first. I ordered a thermistor for the N821F we have and the not cooling went away. Can you feel heat near the operating tubing in the back? Ours would cool a little, then quit. hth good luck.
  • I've opened it yes to feel the coils and that but didn't smell anything out of the ordinarily.
  • Have you opened the outside access panel and sniffed?
    Any smells or odors present.
repair guide is here http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/600.pdf not very helpful to me.
