Norcold Refrigerator issue need help

Please help. I'm currently on a trip and having Refrigerator issues. I have a 2005 Allegro Bay motorhome with a Norcold refrigerator and the freezer seems to be fine but the refrigerator cycles from 34 to 58 degrees for no reason. checked the thermister with new one and they read same. Does same on gas and electric.

Thanks for reading and any replies are appreciated.

  • 1. A defective Norcold Temp Thermister will TEST OK. The only way to tell is to replace the Thermister.
    2. There is NO heater on a Norcold Defrost cycle. The "defrost" cycle is just a 2 hour refer shut OFF every 48 to 54 hours. ONLY if the refer is left ON. To stop the Defrost cycle, just turn the refer OFF and ON once a day. That restarts the 48 to 54 hour timer.
    3. Make sure the evaporator drain hose plug/check valve is installed. That keeps warm air from migrating back up to the refer. Doug

    Did changing the thermostat work?

Sorry, I forgot to say that a new thermostat is on my list of things to do next Spring.
  • I had a similar problem with temp cycling from 30 to 45, and Norcold told me to replace the thermostat.

Also, since the defrost cycle briefly heats the fins to remove frost, I doubt that produces sufficient heat to raise the temp to 58 degrees.

Are you saying to leave the thermistor unplugged? And how long do I leave the refrigerator off to reset the defrost cycle?
