I have aluminum rims with a recessed hole for the valve stem. I've read about people not being able to find metal valve stems that work. Here's a photo of mine:
I wanted to add a TMPS and generally wanted to convert to metal valve stems.
I found these:
They seem like they will work well in my case. These are Haltec N-1600 valve stems. Here's their description:
Ford โF" Series Trucks with Dual Wheels
Alcoa Aluminum 16"
Front & Rear Wheels
Chrome Finish
.453
The metal washer/spacer od is ~1.5 cm.
The height from the rubber grommet to the top of the valve stem is ~3.3 cm.
The diameter of the end that goes inside the tire is ~1.7 cm.
I torqued to 25 INCH lbs and that seemed to hold air on the 1st try.
Hopefully this will help others who are having problems finding metal valve stems.
