Short version: The base EU2000i has a duplex receptacle rated at 20A, and power made is 13.3A. If 2 x units are connected in parallel, the total possible current is 26.6A, which exceeds to rating of the receptacle. Also, power shared via parallel ports does not flow through the 20A circuit breaker. These conditions are not allowed by CSA, so no parallel ports on Canadian EU2000i generators. The EU1000i is okay, since its 15A receptacle never flows more than 15A, even with a second EU1000i connected in parallel.

I don't have a link to CSA rules, but the basic reason is when you combine two standard EU2000i units in parallel, it's possible the single 20A-rated outlet may permit flow of > 20A of current, and CSA won't allow that (even with the 20A breaker). -Robert@Honda

the Floating Neutral IS the reason that you can not get a parallel kit and CA models do not come with the ports- it dos not comply to CA electrical codes.

Has to be more to it than that in light of the eu1000iKC2 supporting parallel operation.

I am suprised know one has tried this. I have a canadian 2000 and was thinking when I am in the US I would pick up a companion 2000 so I could run them togeather. Just would like to make sure I won't have any issues when they run togeather.

I believe that the reason is that the Canadian ones have one leg bonded to the frame as a grounded neutral and the U.S. ones have both legs floating.
