I then discovered that the cause of the issue was that the rollers under the slide were wearing out which caused the slide to drop shift and bind.
Trimming the wood wasn’t necessary , replacing the rollers solved the problem and reattaching the loose trim required double sided carpet tape to hold it in place.
I will double check that as well.
