wrgrs50s - I was thinking like you in that if it would light after shore power then the igniting system should be okay, but I didn't know enough about how it operates to be sure. If the cleaning doesn't help I will look into this.

I had the opposite problem recently where mine in the on/auto mode would jump straight to propane and would not work on electric when hooked to shore power. After testing the heater rod and other recommended diagnostics, I was sure it had to be the main lower circuit board and replaced it only to find the problem still existed.

After much frustration, I decided to replace the eyebrow circuit board which houses the on/off/auto and propane switch. That resolved my issue and now works in both modes.

Since your propane works in auto only after unplugging the shorepower I would think that would mean all of the propane ignition systems are working once receiving the proper command from the main circuit board. I'm wondering if there's a possibility that the eyebrow circuit board is not providing the right signal to operate on propane only when switched to override auto. Just a thought !!!

I would first clean the chimney, then check the flame sensor, then clean the orifice, then check the ignitor.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking about that being one of the possible problems. My igniter failed as well a few years back but it wouldn't start at all whether on shore power or lp. I think you have a good idea to have a spare, I may get one and just try it unless I learn something different in my troubleshooting.

Could be a bad Igniter. I had similar symptoms with the same unit and they replaced the igniter. I bought a second igniter and keep it with me in case it happens again.
