Quality new dual propane regulator?

Rego distributor here. Never seen anything listed about a "limited" warranty.
Regulator fails within 10 years its replaced pretty simple. Labor,postage are not covered. Yes they are expensive but they are made in the usa and have an extensive distributor network. Only issue is most distributors will not sell retail, you need to contact an LP gas dealer for the unit and or warranty issues.

Yes, I believe that is the one PPL has. There are still websites showing the Marshall Brass picture and saying the Marshall Excelsior is the same. I ran into a lot of confusion when I replaced my Marshall Brass one last summer.

Rego regulators. They are more expensive, but they are very well built.

The first and second stages of my old Marshall is connected with a nipple so I teed in there so I can run my camp grill that has its own reg. and the Rego looks to be build similarly. FWIW, That's a big plus if you're interested in that. Craig

I think the primary cause of regulator failure is caused by the propane supplier overfilling the bottle.
When over the listed 80% there is a very good chance of liquid hitting the regulator when the valve is opened.
I keep a short hose (2ft) with the old POL style fitting. The odd time I get back a bottle that seems heavy I use this hose to make sure no liquid comes out when the valve is cracked. And yes it has happened a couple of times, don't always trust the OPD valve

I'm dealing with regulators, ATM, and if i can't find a good one in the parts shed, I'm going to get the best one I can find. Maybe this one
I have different regulator needs than most and you will probably need a two-stage regulator for your needs. Marshall-Excelsior is one of the better ones.

FWIW, I'm choosing to buy the best I can find because my convenience from not buying a second or dealing with a failure is worth more to me than the difference between Asian breakable and US quality. I could care less about a warranty. That, too, is beyond my convenience factor.

I'll call/email the dealer/mfgr on Monday. The typical process with the dealer is that they need to see it to make sure that:

a) It's really broken.
and
b) That I didn't break it.


This usually involves making an appointment for some time 6 to 12 weeks in the future and then leaving the trailer there. Ignoring the down time, that's two round trips and a fuel cost of about $50.

Thanks for looking. That Rego is pricy - about $125 delivered. I was excited when I saw a photo because it appeared as if the regulator and changeover part were separate and could be had individually. Unfortunately I was unable to find the parts separately or service parts for it online.

Is this something where my local plumbing supply may have a more comprehensive parts book vs what I can find online?

They say it has a 10 year warranty and a 25 year service life. I tried to drill down more on the warranty and found this:

This warranty does not extend to any product or part that is not installed and used continuously after installation in accordance with REGO®’s printed instructions,

So maybe people who don't full time aren't covered anyway.

The turnaround is pretty slow too. It could take all summer:

If within thirty days after buyer’s discovery of what buyer believes is a defect, buyer notifies in writing and ships the product to REGO® at 100 Rego Drive, Elon, NC 27244, REGO®, at its option, and within forty-five days of receipt , will repair, replace F.O.B. point of manufacture, or refund the purchase price of that part or product found by REGO® to be defective.

And to make things even more complicated, end users don't even get the factory warranty:

The Limited Warranty stated above is a factory warranty to the first purchasers of REGO® products. Since most users have purchased these products from REGO® distributors, the user must within thirty (30) days after the user’s discovery of what user believes is a defect, notify in writing and return the product to the distributor from whom he purchased the product/part. The distributor may or may not at the distributor’s option choose to submit the product/parts to REGO®, pursuant to this Limited Warranty. Failure by buyer to give such written notice within thirty (30) days shall be deemed an absolute and unconditional waiver of buyer’s claim for such defects. Acceptance of any alleged defective product/parts by REGO®’s distributor for replacement or repairs under the terms of REGO®’s Limited Warranty in no way determines REGO®’s obligations under this Limited Warranty.

Maybe it's better to simply get one of the lower cost ones and have a backup plan for a quick replacement if it fails (carry a spare, or even just a spare 2 stage grill regulator).

I found it. Rego7525B34. I have an ancient Marshall that comes apart and I've made some new parts for it but that model was discontinued 20 yrs. ago. I will get the Rego if I ever need to. Craig
