Rear stabilizer motor replacement

I don't particularly like them because they're too weak, but I've found that if I crank them as hard as I can with the nose of the 5er down a bit, I can easily use the jacks at the front to make everything stable and level.

It was a fun little project while everything was down for Xmas (and I saved $175).

While I don't like the electric jacks, I've not noticed what you've mentioned. My legs lift evenly and there is no lean even on pretty uneven ground. Of course if the trailer is not level when you put them down, they won't level it, they'll just keep it as unlevel as when you started.

They do a good job of keeping the trailer pretty solid, and becomes more so when the JT Strongarms are tightened down.

The problem with Lipert electric stabilizing jacks is THEY DO NOT WORK. I don't mean they don't go up and down, they don't stabilize. They are a sales gimmick. I fell for it, came on my new trailer.

Since I have 2 slides on one side of my Rockwood 2606ws, after you walk around awhile, the whole camper will slowly lean to that side. The reason the stabilizers don't work is because they are driven by ONE motor to put both legs down, and are made to shift for uneven ground. Which allows the trailer to lean. Also the whole trailer is still bouncy with them down.

I finally broke down and put 2 scissor jacks on the slide out side. Easy install. No lean, no bounce. If the Lippert jacks ever **** out, I'd take them off and throw them in trash. Put 2 more scissors on. Make that switch turn on Christmas lights.

All that said, Lippert could have applied a little engineering skill, and used 2 motors, one on each side, with an ampere draw sensing mechanism to stop the motors individually from one switch when solidly on the ground. That would have worked.

JMO but I'd rather put manual jacks on for my rear stabilizers than spend 10 days messing with something that will quit again in the not too far distant future. I like to tinker, but while I might have taken it apart to see why it failed, I hate the slowness of the electric stabilizers enough to have replaced them, rather than repair them.

After messing around for 10 days, it's back in operation. Saved about $175. Merry Christmas to me.

Finally got it apart. Now to find new springs for the brushes.

Now to wake the nay sayers up. If you can park that thing somewhere that oil drips do not matter do it and get the oil squirt gun out and oil the hey out of the moving parts and screw under there.

Yup. Washed some of the salt off today. Going to have to crawl underneath and hose off the bottom as best I can.
