Red Max Pro Stripper ????

Question

I put Red Max Pro on my fifth wheel over 3 years ago, and after about 2 years I got into some bugs traveling that were difficult to get off. After scrubbing diligently on the front cap, they came off, but you could see that there were scrub marks in the RMP. I cleaned it off, and put on a couple more coats. That did a pretty good job. Earlier this year, the finish started flaking on the front. I cleaned it well again, and applied more coats. Now it is starting to flake badly again. This is just on the front cap which is facing south and gets all of the summer 100* weather here in the summer. The rest of the rig still looks like new, other than where it has been scraped by brush getting into hunting areas. I have only washed the rest of the trailer with mild soap, and the only time the sun is on it is when we are traveling. The question is: today I tried using some ammonia, I saw where some have used it as a stripper, and it didn't work real well, but the decals in the front were starting to peal in some areas where they were a little loose to start with. Will the Zepp's Stripper take off the decals also, and is there any way to protect them? Thanks.

That's why I refer to this stuff (Red Max Pro) as JUNK.

Home Depot has "Zep" remover that will work.  Red max pro has worked well for me and many others but...... stuff happens.

Yes the stripper will work and might lighten the color on decals a little.

This is how you do it, trust me I did this twice on my older motorhome, 1st off the stripper must be diluted, 60% stripper to 40% water, also have a hose ready while doing the work, take a rag and dip in bucket of diluted stripper, ring out rag so stripper does not run down the RV, apply stripper on the bad area and rubbing in sometimes helps, let it sit for about 3-5 min than rinse down with hose and repeat till that area is free of wax, do it in the sun if possible, it helps the stripper work better, on decals be careful about rubbing to much because the color will fad some, rinse real good when finish and apply the wax, it will self level, also check for areas where your stripper dripped and apply wax on that area as well..

Do not let the stripper sit to long because it will melt the fiberglass and turn it yellow, you also don't need to remove all layers of wax, just down to where it looks good than reapply the wax, take your time and you won't be able to see where you redid the work.

I now have a newer RV with full body paint, I so love my full body paint..
