- wa8yxmExplorer IIIGee I was going to say "Great, Notes do not work on my Fridge, No ferrous metal for the refrigerator magnets to stick to".
Yes you can use Dry Ice, but be aware of the following.
First: Dry Ice is CO2.. Too much CO2 in an enclosed area is not a good thing.
Second it is (in rough figures) -100 F.. That's instant frostbite.
You want to wrap it in several layers of, for example, newspaper to slow it down, It will over freeze things if you do not blanket it well. - Led_67Explorer

I appreciate the trouble shooting offers. It stopped working on A/C and gave no user serviceable trouble codes. Ran it using it on LP for a few days and it has now stopped working and is giving no user serviceable trouble code. So I suspect the control board at this point. Just trying to get by and keep DW happy until I can get this resolved.
OK you said that you are using dry ice...I have heard of hunters that have nearly suffocated in an enclosed space with dry ice so Please Be Careful. Second the fridge A/C quit and now the LP quit correct...Do you have a yellowish residue around or on your burner for your fridge if so your containment for the chemical has failed and you will need a new fridge...Also you did not give the make or model of your fridge so maybe if you did a search for the make and model you will find something.

- wolfe10ExplorerYes, dry ice in the freezer is fine. Warp in newspaper so it lasts a little longer.
For the refrigerator, wrap even better or everything will freeze.
Remember dry ice is Carbon Dioxide. Not poisonous, but no oxygen in it either, so keep some outside vent(s) open.
BTW, what is wrong with the refrigerator. It may be something simple that you can fix with simple tools and a couple of minutes. Detail on whether it works/doesn't work on propane, 120 VAC, etc. - j-dExplorer IIInteresting. When we got our first coach, we couldn't get the fridge going. Got Dry Ice and put it in one of the "crispers" in the Fridge section. Didn't put anything in the Freezer (separate compartment, two-door fridge). Just went with fridge stuff and called it good.
What I'm getting out of the above is that Ice/Dry Ice in Freezer compartment would transfer cold to the Fridge compartment and the whole thing would "work" at least to a degree. Is that right?
To OP: Yes! Ice/Dry Ice will serve you very well. RV fridge is 1. Ice Chest, 2. Absorption Cooling Unit, 3. Heater and Controls. It's a pretty good ice chest if the doors fit well and you cut down on what I call "shopping" in the fridge. Know where you put your stuff, open it up, get your stuff and close it promptly and firmly.
We've done a lot of "car camping" and found that a BLOCK of ice will outlast a bag of cubes/chips by a factor of many to one. In the West, and Canada as I recall, Block was available over half the time. Here in the South, I think it might be a hunt. - RJsfishinExplorer

Can I use Dry Ice or Ice in the freezer compartment to get me by for the next couple of days?
Thanks for your input.
No quick fix on the fridge ?
Mine quit a couple weeks ago, I put bag of ice in the freezer,.....its still there,.....a guy did a quick fix on the fridge. - IvylogExplorer IIIYes you can use dry ice. If the red light is on the recall box, it could be the box not your refer that has failed. If it's on do a search of resetting or bypassing making sure it's not the refer.
