road warrior 415 ac/ circuit breaker -UPDATE FIXED

Question

brand new 5th wheel. I can crank the generator and cut both ac units on low. they work fine. But with them both running and the 1st light or tv i cut on, either the 30amp breaker on the generator will pop, or you will hear a thud thud thud from the circuit breaker panel and everything will shut off. But no switches will have flipped in the circuit panel. (sometime the 30amp breaker at the generator will flip off, sometimes not)

Now i can cut one ac unit on and then cut a microwave on and same thing will happen. Off after about 20 seconds.

I can cut on one ac, and a tv...and its fine.

But no 2 ac at same time, or 1 ac and microwave.

Its got the onan 5500 in it so it should more than power everything in the camper.

Any ideas?

30A is 30A regardless if Onan is a 5500 or 7500

When you exceed 30 amp draw (1 A/C & Microwave, 2 A/C's, etc.) the 30A breaker Should Trip.

Add up what each is drawing when running.....you're trying to use more than is available.

Your 50A rig has Two 120V hot lines (50A on each.....6000 watts per leg total of 12,000 watts)
The 30A is supplying both legs of the 50A and only has 3600 watts

So with that being the case. Onan and everyone says that generator should power both ac's with no problem. Or one ac and a microwave. Does it sound like the breakers are on the same phase and should be divided. Or rather the cb in the panel should be next to each other. If you can't run them just doesn't make sense to have a toy hauler and have to cut ac off every time you want to run microwave. 50 amps the 15k and 13.5k ac's should pull 1 on each breaker shouldn't they?

yay fixed it! looking at the circuit breaker panel, they had the front ac, rear ac, and micro wave all on one side of the panel drawing off 120 volt ide (red); then the small stuff all on the other side. so i took the rear ac breaker and switched sides of the panel , put 15k ac on black side and moved a gfi braker to the other and wallllahhh!

now both acs run, microwave is good!
