Security String LED Waterproof Lamps?

String rope lighting controlled by a motion detector with adjustable sensitivity and time?

Positive experiences?

I have a keyed doorknob to manage and the light string must by circumstance be mounted 90 degrees above a distance of seven feet.

Mounted on a barrier concrete wall. The 2nd lamp is a conventional LED security floodlight of 30 watts shining toward another keyed door 30' distant.

The floodlight is a piece of cake for lighting up the 2nd door's knob and keyhole.

The outer wall LED rope light is the question. Shining straight down onto concrete will there be enough light to illuminate the concave doorknob's keyhole?

The outer door is street exposure. The city prohibits arms or excursions sticking out beyond the property line and it conveniently allows inoperative streetlamps to stay that way for several months.

If I had four arms, I could manage a key and packages plus a flashlight. The car is parked on the street parallel to the wall. Six feet distant.

I've had reasonable satisfaction with the Harbor Freight solar LED light ropes; my oldest is going fine after a few years of being outdoor exposed to all sorts of weather (though not salt air). The included little nylon cable clips are weak and crack with age. At $9 a pop on sale, I wouldn't think it too crazy to plan to need to replace every few years if needed.

Not motion activated, but they illuminate for several hours on a day's charge, the whole night long under decent conditions. I don't think it would illuminate the lock any too well for you, though; they're not super bright by any means. It is sufficient to keep me from stumbling down my deck stairs due to not seeing them, even though it doesn't keep me from stumbling down them due to being somewhat of a klutz at times.

Should have mentioned I have a curb two doors and a pitch back path. Being I have but one good hand that can somewhat grab a grocery bag makes it challenging.

Sorry, I should have added, ridiculously bright to the point you can hold the key in one hand with the flashlight dangling down and it will not only light up your path to the door but also reflect more than enough light to reflect back up and let you see the key hole, or at least the knob to guide the key to the center.

Unless you have a very dark pathway at least.

A small LED flashlight on a keychain.

I have a couple that are barely bigger than a single AAA battery that are ridiculously bright.

A device that is IP67 rated then smeared with silicone dielectric grease at joints and seams seems to do OK.

Brass is a no-no. Silicon bronze yes. 18-8 stainless no, 316 yes. Monel yes. Powdercoat yes, if unscratched.

I'm looking at flood lighting because it can reflect off of the car and onto the doorknob and deadbolt.

Thank you

I wonder how weatherproof the locksets are in a salt air environment? The air eats the plating off of metals. And will freeze solid a crescent wrench left in the open for a week.

Perhaps a wireless lockset would be a possible solution. I have no idea how you feel about the security of them, but it would certainly solve fumbling with keys. They don't seem to be horribly expensive, but I have no idea how resistant to electronic intrusion they would be.
