Shower valve flow

Has anyone drilled the 1/8 hole bigger in there shower control where the hose screws on? Seems like you might get more volume with it opened to 3/32 or 1/4 inch. Just wondering.
  • There's also a restrictor plate in the shower head itself where the hose attaches.
  • A bit more pressure might help. If using an inline regulator, replace it with an adjustable type and set it to 60 psi. We run 60 psi and no problems with anything.
  • Be prepared for a shower that gets cold right when you are ready to rinse. You'll run out of hot water a lot sooner.
  • I took the one outta my home shower the water hits ya like a fire hose now.
  • Most flow restrictors are removable, but if not, drillable. I have done both successfully.
  • YES.......
    That is a 'flow restrictor'

Some can be pried out/removed to increase flow

If not removable then 1/4" drill bit to enlarge hole for increased flow

Pump or city water supply can keep up with increased demand

Common way to get good shower flow

Faucet aerators have restrictor plates also..they can be removed
  • Don't no if the water heater would keep up with the extra volume. You would also use more water if you dry camp.
