Shower Wall Corner Trim Molding

This is in a 1999 Fleetwood Terry Hybrid. Three pieces of thin paneling make up the shower/tub walls. Some call it the "Surround." It's a soft plastic molding in the two corners of the walls and it's broken down from age. The stuff has a "Y" cross section to it, where the stem of the "Y" is between the panels and the branches each cover one panel edge.
Where can I get some and how can I install it? Seems to have been stapled along the stem of the "Y" before the paneling went in.
Or is there an alternative? Thinking of pulling all the old out, pulling the staples, then caulking the seams with a polyurethane type sealant.
Anybody done anything like this?
  • I think what you want is sold at Home Depot and Lowes its back with the FRP. They have corner stuff inside and outside corner trim.
  • We had this same issue with our previous TT, we first removed all the old brittle molding using an x-acto knife and installed some 1/4" angle aluminum cut to fit top to bottom and caulked the areas and then installed the aluminum and attached it with stainless screws and it worked fine for many years. This I found to be the simplest most cost effective fix without tearing up the complete surround.
