Slide-Out Adjustment

Greetings everyone. I have a 2006 Forest River Rockwood that I've been overhauling for a year now. I'm living full-time in this 5th wheel and moved recently. A few weeks after setup I noticed the sun setting in the west and light coming in at the top of my slide-out. Upon inspection I noticed that the floor is seated properly but the top of the slide out isn't. The rear (top) looks normal but the front end of the slideout is cocked in about 1.5 inches.

If looking down from the top it would look like this.

I've messed with the adjustments until I'm out of ideas. Have any of you experienced this same issue?
  • :h Will do, thanks.

Good luck. Something else to check, make sure you're balls-on level. Being a little off can affect the slide's alignment as well.

  • Thanks for the replies... this opens my thinking up because I did replace a section of the slide-out floor a year ago. Now a year later when moving the RV I now have this problem so it is probably related. Maybe I just need to replace the entire slide-out floor as one piece to eliminate that part of the equation.

So back under the RV I go and at least the ground is dry for now.
    Thank you.

  • My 2008 Terry had a 13' slide for the sofa and dinette and it ran on a rack and pinion system. If you look under the outside of the slide at the end of the steel racks where they meet the outside wall, you will see some adjustments. One threaded rod runs parallel to the floor and adjusts in/out to correct the problem to show. If both sides meet the wall but the top is tipped out, there is a vertical bolt and jam nut that adjusts that. Raising it will tip the top of the slide in.

I got into all this when I replaced the rotting floor in the slide out, so it's possible there is rot either in the slide itself or the frame of the camper where the slide attaches. I had a bunch of pics of that repair but can't find where I filed them....

What type of slide out is it?
    Hydraulic
    Power gear rack and pinion
    Other

On the power gear there are assorted adjustements. If you are SURE teh floor is out all the way and in good condition (more on that in a bit)_ you can adjust the height adjustment at the outside end of the "Racks" (long toothed rails) lowering it should "tip" the top out.

Now if the floor is NOT in good condition it may have tipped in due to a bad floor. Happened to me last summer.. New floor section needed.
