Sticky Toilet Valve

I am not sure of the brand of toilet I have but it's whatever Keystone puts in the cougars. It has a little pedal that you step on to the right side of the toilet.

Well here is my issue unless you "snap" release it when you flush it will stick open every so slightly. And then this last weekend it stuck so much it was in the open position and enough to have the water still flowing which completely filled my black tank, and overflowed into the floor and into the carpet ... basically flooded the trailer. Luckily the heating vents served as a "drain"

So my question is it this thing adjustable? It there a spring or set screw of some sort I can adjust?

  • Be careful, hold the valve open with your foot, with the water turned off & smear a bit of axle grease all over that rubber seal that the valve blade contacts.
Might be best to use a Q tip instead of your finger, in case your foot slips off that foot pedal.

The clorine in the water hardens that rubber seal & then the valve wont close all the way.
